Spa & Grooming
At the Red Hydrant Spa, we offer the following Add-On Services for your pet’s Spa & Grooming Day:
Pet bad breath is often overlooked, but it’s actually one of the first signs of oral disease. At any one time, 80% of all dogs and 70% of all cats show signs of dental and oral health diseases. Regular dental care can add as much as five years to a pet’s life.
As quoted by the American Veterinary Dental Society.
PlaqClnz eliminates pets bad breath, protects oral health and helps add up to three healthy years to your pet’s life.
Your groomer can be one of the most important caregivers in your pet’s life and a partner in protecting their health. Ask your groomer to take a few minutes to note your pet’s breath and examine their teeth and gums for signs of oral disease.
Be sure to tell your groomer if your pet has noticeable bad breath or any problems with chewing, loss of appetite, uneaten food, food dropping from the mouth or pawing at the mouth or face.
At the Red Hydrant, we only use and recommend high quality Shampoos. Most come from Davis Manufacturing. Davis is a US Based company located in the suburbs of Atlanta Georgia. All of our products are Veterinarian Quality products used in only the top salons around the world.
Given the high quality of these products, there is seldom a need for additional charges for shampoos. However, given the uniqueness and specificity of some products, there will be a nominal additional charge. Typically, it will range between $5 and $10. Please do not hesitate to inquire further about the details and how it relates to your specific pet.
Proper care and home maintenance would dictate regular brushing of your pet at home. As talented and gifted as our team members are, they cannot undo weeks of neglect and matting in one session at the spa.
Dogs that come into the Spa with excessive matting will typically require a brief conversation between the owner and the stylist.
Often time, mats are located in isolated or specific areas and can be carefully removed with product and an assortment of combs and brushes. This is a tedious and time- consuming process. Done properly, there should be nominal degradation to either the skin or the coat. The charge for this service is $1.00 per minute.
If the matting is truly excessive and all over the body, we typically recommend carefully removing the coat via shaving and beginning again with a clean palette. We are more concerned about the well-being of the dog than the vanity of the dog. There is also an additional charge for this process as well and depending on the size of your dog can
Price ranges from $10.00 to $60.00
Most all dogs shed. It is a natural process and shedding does not mean there is anything wrong. When a dog sheds, they are losing or shedding their dead coat. This is a trait of both short and long coated dogs. Regular brushing is the single best thing you can do to aid in managing this frustrating component of pet ownership. Cutting the coat short (Shaving a Lab or Golden) will NOT help with shedding…it will simply shed short hairs instead of long hairs.
Twice a year in both the spring and fall, many dogs “blow” their coat. This simply means heavy shedding in a consolidated window.
At the Red Hydrant we include this service in some groom services i.e. Labs, Goldens, German Shepard’s, bulldogs and pugs. However, we do not include the price with all grooms. Please inquire if the price for your dogs groom includes this service. It is not included in any of the bath prices at Red Hydrant but can EASILY be added. Please inquire for more specific details.
Price will typically range for this service from $15.00 to $30.00.
